Search syntax

Yore Sequoia employs a robust and flexible Contao search engine that enables you to fine-tune your searches.

By default, Contao searches only for records that contain ALL the search terms (AND search). If you select the 'match any word' option, however, the search engine will return all records that contain one or more of the words in your search terms (OR search).

Phrase searches enable a search for word combinations that are in a certain order. To search for a phrase,  just place the corresponding words in quotation marks ("Mineral King").

Search with wildcards

You can search for portions of words by using an asterisk. The asterisk is a wildcard that stands for any other characters. If, for example, you want to search for all words that begin with 'min', you would search for min*. The results would include records with 'mine', 'mining', 'miner', and 'mineral'.

Force search terms

Enforcing search terms is a way to further refine OR searches. The require specific terms in a list of terms with the 'match any word' option, place a plus sign (+) in front of the required words. If, for example, you are interested in mining, miners, mines, and minerals, but only in Mineral King, you could search for min* +king. Note that there must be no space between the plus sign and the search term.

Exclude search terms

You can use a minus sign to exclude a search term so that the search results include only those records that do not contain a certain term. For example, if you could search for min* -king. Note that there must be no space between the plus sign and the search term.
